Trip to Northwest PA (My Parents)
Earlier this month we embarked on our annual pilgrimage to my parents' house. It started with a bang and ended with a scraping thud; in between was uneventful. Here's a short recap: On our way up, just an hour into our trip, Matt witnessed an accident (I was sleeping, and thankfully Connor couldn't see much from the back seat). A guy lost control, was ejected from his car, and bounced head-first down the highway. Cars jammed on their brakes, and luckily everyone avoided hitting him. Matt, a former paramedic and current police officer, was pretty much in charge of the scene until rescue arrived. To make a long story short, the man had a severe head injury and probably wasn't going to make it--or ended up wishing he didn't. (TMI [so don't read next sentence if you're squeamish]: Matt's gloves had blood and gray matter on them.) Anyhow, once help arrived, we were on our way again. Then, on our last full day there, Matt got stuck in my parents' driveway, which in and of itself would've been no big deal. However, he was backing out (our driveway is huge) and lost his site lines, and thus backed over a stake and line anchoring the end of a grape row (my uncle's vineyard). Well, my uncle and cousin's husband pulled us out, but because of the stake, etc., the plastic bottom, under our bumper, was pulled off. Matt jury-rigged it for driving home the next day, but the estimate to fix it is nearly $600, and we have to fix it soon because our inspection is due soon. Other than those events, our trip was relaxing and fun! We were able to spend time with my family and our friends Joy and Adam and their girls. It snowed while we were there and Connor got to go sled riding!

OMG that snowman is HUGE!!!!
Those are some huge bumps in your trip. That accident sounds horrible. Your husband is quite the hero - I could not deal. I'm glad the middle was relaxing. All that sledding looks like tons of fun!
